BT Young Scientist Exhibition 2011Moyderwell Mercy Primary has been successful for the last two years in achieving an exhibition stand at the RDS Primary Science Fair at the BT Young Scientist Competition. In January 2011, sixteen 4th to 6th class students exhibited individual projects on 'The Spread of Swine Flu'. This January 2011 fifteen 6th class pupils displayed a joint project on the Catastrophes of Spring 2010.... the Icelandic Volcanic Eruption and the Deepwater-Horizon Explosion /Oil-Spill Disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. We were highly praised by the judges, other students and the general public. Moyderwell brought a trophy back to school on each occasion.
Are you heading for 6th class in the next couple of years? Would you like to be considered for this outing to Dublin? If so....get your skates on you and begin today researching and presenting any science related project...F. Mullins and M. Jones will be co-ordinating another event in Autumn 2011 for the Exhibition of January 2012. See you there!!!! |

We sing where required....school concert, end of year celebrations, First Communions...This year we are working on the musical numbers from the hit musical 'Hairspray'.

Official Opening of Moyderwell Gym 11th February 2011On 11th February we celebrated the official opening of our new school gymnasium. The event was presided over by renowned broadcaster and commentator Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh, who graciously cut the ribbon for us.
The opening of the brand new facility marks a culmination of years of hard work by staff, board of management and parents of the school. The Gym was officially blessed by his Grace, Bishop of Kerry, Bill Murphy and a short prayer service was also held. This was followed by an exhibition game of basketball with a few brave teachers taking on some far more talented students. We are extremely fortunate to now have a state of the art facility within the school complex and it will be of great benefit to the future generations of Moyderwell students. Many thanks again to all those who supported our endeavours over recent years! |
