Music @ Moyderwell

Colour My Strings is continuing for first to fifth class, with a large number of students gaining proficiency in violin. All candidates for exams received honours certificates from the Royal Irish Academy. We were delighted to introduce the keyboard as a new instrument to our music programme this year. 28 students from thrid and fourth class took part in the 'Tickle the Keys' initiative. We held our annual musical evening in June. The sounds of the Tin Whistle were also echoing around the corridors of the school throughout the year, with several classes enjoying the benefits of the Tradtime.ie which can be accessed both at school and at home.

Out choir continued to produce great performances and participated in the Cross Border Peace Proms at the University Concert Hall in Limerick.

 Our School

Moyderwell Mercy is a co-educational primary school in the Catholic tradition, catering for pupils from Junior Infants to Sixth Class. Each child is individually known to the Principal and staff and is educated in a warm, caring and happy atmosphere. Our pupils learn, grow and work together in an environment of co-operation and mutual respect.

Our Aim

Our aim is to recognise the uniqueness of each pupil and strive to develop their potential to the full.We encourage a love of learning and participation in school life and seek to supply a well rounded education. Inspired by the vision of Catherine McAuley, Mercy education is committed to the holistic development of each child so that every student may reach their full potential. It is a process informed and influenced by the teaching and example of Jesus Christ and is conducted in an atmopsphere of care, respect and joy. Mercy education is committed to on-going whole school development in collaboration and partnership with the Board of Management, staff, parents and the wider community. We in Scoil Mhuire, Moyderwell embrace the philosophy of Mercy Education as the ethos of our school.
